Measurements requested for volley modification
Dear all, I am currently starting to build up the front end of my 7 locost - with standard wishbones and ball joints (bought). But I have acquired for
a total price of 100 quid Mercedes rear and front axle/running gear and uprights which I am determined to use. They are from a 2000-2006 model c/e
class and I want to keep them but as you may or may not know the snap of the front hub carriers and uprights are VERY different to the standard for
items as featured in "the book". My plan in to weld a C shape billet steel peice on to the side of the hub carriers to match the wishbone
ball joint geometry. (Wonder if this has been done before) and machine / cut the long spindly arms off the current hub carrier, leaving he steering
rod attachments. My question is what is the correct spacing between the ends/ball joints at the end of the front wishbones, or should the bottom and
top wishbones be parallel??? Is this complete lunecy??? Or has anybody else modified hub carriers like this??? This is a Tracy day only car 7 locost
project - many thanks , Dave

Welding to a cast item is highly specialised, if its cast steel its easier but not if its cast iron
You can spark test it with an angle grinder but I would not weld to a safety critical item without seriously testing the work
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

Yes have been thinking about that and think I will machine a flat
Portion on both sides and bolt it on with HD bolts
