Indicator Problem

Probably something I've done no doubt but, a few month ago when indicating left the flasher started going faster than when indicating right - which I know means a bulb problem? But, all bulbs were OK and flashing.

Last night it stopped flashing all together, but the relay still 'clicks'. Indicating right works fine.

If I press the hazard switch all the bulb work OK and flash fine.

Any ideas how I can trace what the fault is? Can't be a bulb fault if they flash OK with the hazards? - stalk problem maybe?

Bad earth connection at one of the lamps.

Best way is to start with bulbs on the affected side, often the plated cap of the bulb won't be making a good earth on the bulb holder, if that doesn’t work clean the earth point where the earth wire from the lamp connects to the chassis.

The flasher relay from memory has two power sources.

A permanent live for the hazards and a switched live for the indicators.

Dia of the switch

Or as Bt has said check the Wipac rear bulb holder.

Ive had to replace one of these before.

Didn't have loads of time last night, but I managed to swop all the bulbs left to right, the problem remained.

Front indicators I swopped the house as well as the bulbs, I'm unable to swop the bulbs in the rear arch ones as they're sealed in. The wires for both rear indicators are also all well sealed and haven't been touched by me.

I've pulled the dash off and checked all the connections on both the stalk and relay but they're all OK and no amount of wiggling of wires changes anything lol.

Are faulty stalks a common problem?

I might just get an Audi badge for the rear, then I don't need to worry about it
