I just got home, put the kettle on and saw this thread. Do I detect a faint pre-xmas decorating panic in the air? I finished painting our kitchen
just before lunch!
Then I was sent into town (only 6 miles away) to do a bit more christmas shopping this afternoon. Weather is cold but not icy here. So I took the
locost.
I always enjoy parking it in Royal Priors multistorey carpark - it sounds good!

But can you get out under the barrier without having to pay??..
Town Centre Car park here is £20 per day.
Only good news is I cant get the Land Rover in there. Mind you could have some fun ripping out their lights as I drove around!.. (Heavy Duty Roofrack
on it!)

£20!
No barriers to dodge here; it's pay and display (and free on sunday these days though it didn't used to be).
I just have the worry of leaving the parking ticket stuck to the windscreen (when I do have to pay) - but so far no one's ever pinched it!

Yup... £20 a day, in the Lion Yard Car Park in Cambridge. Its cheaper in London I think!.
It went up to £25, but there was a near riot / revolt by motorists, and they put it back to £20.
Problem is that municipal carparks here are owned and run by the council not by NCP.
Council wants to keep cars OUT of "Hstoric" Cambridge, and make every effort to make driving in the cit next to impossible / difficult.
They are talking of having congestion charging here as well.
Park and ride is fairly reasonable, but not the city centre parks.
You think that Speed Camera Traps are a licence to print money... Come and live here!!!. We have expensive car parks AND the Speed Cameras

No, it's just that a tiler is coming to do the walls today, and I wanted to get the place into reasonable shape before he came.
David
P.S. did I mention that I hate painting?

Paid a visit to historic Cambridge once in a LR Discovery.
Found a multi-story with a curving ramp entrance to first floor, got that far only to find that Disco would not go under height restrictor
Had to call police to deal with traffic tailback down the ramp. They were not best pleased for the holdup whilst they got everyone down again for me
to back out.

That's just our local councils way of letting you know they dont want you visiting , but better than the low and expensive car parks are our
sneaky rising bollards that have trashed several cars when drivers ignore road signs. All designed to make you use the park and ride system. Probably
worth a visit if you are in the area . Rusty
