It's usually cars they do this with. "I will pay you your asking price and my agent in your country will gove you an extra £2000; please pay this extra money to (A scam company they own) for shipping to South Africa (normally)". I had this, it's a real pain in the arse as you have to relist etc.

What annoyed me more was that the police didn't care. They didn't want the forged cheque or any of the details.

A friend of mine has had this this week on a different site. They are sell a motor bike worth about £900. They have had lots of reply's from people who want to send a cheque for £5000 for bike!!! Out of about 8 replies there has only been one genuine.

Whats the problem - Wait for the funds to clear before shipping the goods - NO FULL PAYMENT - NO GOODS SHIPPED

ADD 5% handleing charge if you think it's sus.

BUT RULE 1 don;t send the goods till you have the cash in your hand.

The problem is that the cheque can apparently clear withouth there being funds available due to some dogsy loophole.

Heres how it works:

The cheques that are sent are stolen/forged. You pay it in and it clears. The person whos account the money comes out of reports it to the bank. They trace the cheque. Look at it and realise its a fake. Remove the money from your account.

Simple as that.

Obviously it takes a while for all that to happen. You think you have the money and send the goods to the person. A week later the cheque bouces so to speak.
