engine age
I need to verify the age of my pinto engine. Who do I contact and what info will they need. ?
Where is the engine number on a 205 block and what does it mean ?

Ha..... at last one I can answer.
The number is stamped on a flat area just below the alternator mount.
Burton Power catalogue has all the engine codes for the manufacture date.
I did send all the cast markings to Ford Technical but without the serial number they said they could not identify the date of manufacture.
For mine the engine number seems to be the last 7 characters of the VIN, two letters and 5 numbers.

Fax Ford technical department with the engine number and they will send a letter confirming it in a few days.

PS - The engine number will only be the last 7 digits on the donor cars VIN if it the original engine in the car.
