GOD DAM RALLY DESIGN!
so i just gone to get my mk2 quick rack from the rally design website, been thinking about getting one for a couple of weeks. ive posted on the forum
for peoples opinion and they all said that it was a good price at £79.50. this is the cheapest ive seen on a lot of websites, but what they dont tell
you is that these prices DONT include VAT! the rack is actuall £95.00 including VAT + £8.50 p&p so my rack ends up costing £103.50 not £79.50

Not sure why you are .
I've got one and think I did the homework looking for the cheapest; rally design it turned out to be.
The track rods are 14 mm diameter all the way through unlike the standard esort rack which are more like 12 mm and rolled threads.
Ofcourse ebay shows up cheaper ones from time to time but they still approach £ 70 + p/p for a s/h one.

Read the small print.
Its not Rally Designs fault is it? The GOVERNMENT force them to APPLY VAT!
CAVEAT EMPTOR = let the buyer beware - it's YOUR responsibility to understand all the costs.
Picking up the phone usually helps.
I don't appreciate this kind of post on the forum - it's negative for no good reason other than your own stupidity.
I hope this thread is removed
Cheers,

Rally Design make it very clear that the prices are all exclusive of VAT.
I have found them to be exceptionally helpful, and more often than not, the cheapest for many of the parts I have required.
Not many suppliers have VAT inclusive prices, so why the big downer on Rally Design??

sorry to those that i have offended, and a big pat on the back for the guys at rally design

Agreed on that....
£70 soon turns out to be £100
or even worse - in the last 2 years kitcar prices have gone up over 60%
FACT - prop shaft (baileymorris) 2002 = £90 delivered
Prop shaft (baileymorris) 2005 (late) = £160 delivered.
Inflation or WHAT - wish my wages went up like that

There is actually no excuse for retail outlets to advertise the before VAT price - it's not like they sell most of their wares abroad!.
Wholesalers fair enough, but not selling to the likes of you and me.
It's just a ruse to get you in.
I'm with Omega on this and if you don't like it, tough
That's my opinion

If it was then GTS, Europa, RS, Maplins, VWP and most big suppliers of pretty much anything are in the wrong.
I think as long as it says somewhere that all prices exclude VAT then thats it.

Nearly, it's a self-regulatory system administered by CAP (part of the ASA). Their 'rules' say (from
http://www.cap.org.uk/cap/codes/cap_code/ShowCode.htm?clause_id=1533):
15.2
Prices quoted in marketing communications addressed to the public should include VAT and other non-optional taxes and duties imposed on all buyers. In
some circumstances, for example where marketing communications are likely to be read mainly by businesses able to recover VAT, prices may be quoted
exclusive of VAT or other taxes and duties, provided prominence is given to the amount or rate of any additional costs.
It doesn't appear to have any real teeth unfortunately. Self-regulatory seems to mean generally ignored either that or everyone thinks
they sell mainly to businesses. (from your list I'd agree RS do sell mostly to businesses)
