zx9r engine
hi all, first post so i'll probably get it wrong, question on my engine, the number appears to be zx90008894 but kawasaki say there is no such
number as it doesn't have a letter in it, so does anyone know if the d's on the casing look identical to a zero and if so will Mr sva man
accept that?

Just looking at Haynes manual, engine no should be like zx900be000001/zx900ce000001. Mine is the zx900ce the easist way to check is, how many coil
packs (ht coils)have you got? if 2 you have zx900 b1 to b4 if you have 4 you have either zx900c1/c2 or zx900e1
If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!

whoa! it's all getting a bit technical here, thanks for the comments but a bike engine is new to me, give me a performance mini and i know
what i'm doing. the ht leads on the engine appear to be connected to a transistor type box' what do these coils look like and where are
they? sorry to be so dense i knew i should have read my own strap line, just looked in the book and going by the ic ignitor unit i have
either a c or e engine doesn't help me with the number but at least i know i'll have to sort out the emissions for sva

On a bike engine the coils are the bits the HT leads are attached to; they are triggered by The Brain, and remove the need for a dizzy type device.
It's not uncommon for them to run wasted spark systems too, so 2 plugs spark at once (one when it's supposed to, one when it's 360º
out). I'm from the same background as you from the sounds of it (A Series), and jut think of a bike engine as a 16V mini engine. They're
not that different, just as most petrol engines are similar. Some bikes have 2 coils (as mine does), some just 1, I think these tend to be the FI
engines, but may well be wrong on this bit.

If it's a C or E the coils are the plug caps. They don't have HT leads like the type used on standard coils.
