Can I use 919 speedo?

I have an 893cc blade engine but am wiring it with a late 919cc loom (though still using an 893cc CDI unit)
I also have a set of 919cc clocks with the analogue electronic speedo which I would like to use.
Obviously, my engine doesn't have an electronic speedo sensor but I was wondering, since I have the sensor wires in the loom,if I can use an alternative sensor positioned elsewhere (i.e. prop, rear driveshaft etc.)
Has anyone done this, and, if so, where did you source an appropriate sensor and how did you wire it up? (Would I need a yellow box etc?)

Any help greatly appreciated.
Andy.
