Adjusting Mixture on Fireblade.
Hi all,
Hope you can help, we are off to the rolling road tommorrow or tue and am 99.9% confident that the guy who is going to be doing it will know what he
is on with but, just to be sure can anyone enlighten me with what we need to do to get the emissions sorted for sva.

Its a carb engine so I guess you are Q plate so it only needs to pass a basic test.
ie balance carbs, maybe play around with needle heights etc.
If you need to pass more stringent emmissions then is out with the carb balance bungs and in with some kind of air bleed (fish tank pipe and
restrictor) to weaken the mixture to match whatever is needed. The big question is what will the plate be you are after, Q or 2007 ?
If Q then its easy, if 2007 then cat also required ..... Not sure the rolling road can help you beyond balance and power figures without.

regardless of what plate he gets after sva you will need to pass a cat test at sva due to the age of the engine fitted ie after 31/07/1995
you will need to meet
less than 0.3% CO at 3000rpm
less than 200ppm HC at 3000
lambda value of 0.97 to1.03
then at idle
less than 0.5% CO
you will need a cat fitted to meet these requirements.
hope this helps.
