Porsche 924 turbo?
Having started a new job two months ago, my daily commute into work takes me past a 81 reg Porsche 924 turbo sat looking lonely outside someones
garage, it has the flattest, most cracked, and chipped paintwork, i have ever seen, and acording to the tax disk hasent been on the road since 1997.
obviously i dont want to buy it and spend months up to my ears in Porsche/Audi/VW car parts.
But i am having a very hard time remembering that.
If one day i have a slight lapse in common sense, can someone point me in the direction of a good guide for things to look for, and most importantly a
guide to how much to throw at the owner to secure this magnificent steed.
Many thanks in advance.

May make a good donor for a kit project as the body will be crap at that age , i had a 1983 and sold it 7 years ago before the body really started to
go ,

If it can be done it i will be done .

Mate picked up two of these, one for £50 with a crap engine, and one just take it away with a crap body. Made one good one out of the two, (lots of
body repairs though). Mind you took him about three years to complete the project. Cheers Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

Why not just buy a decent one to start with?? Surely they arent too dear anyway in a roadworthy condition?? Sounds like asking for trouble to me
really taking on a car thats been stood for so long.

Leave it where it is, its basically a van engine in there anyway, the Audi LT unit, 8v OHC, the 924S got the 944 engine. Gearboxes and torque tubes
wear, gearchange gets sloppy, the bodies are galvanised, so once rot sets in it creeps behind the plating without showing, back suspension mounts on
the inner sills, prone to rotting and dropping off, wrap around back screen prone to leaks and subsequent floor pan rot.
There are more good 944's about, whilst the same basic body, more have been looked after because they were so much more expensive.
But, remember the Top Gear used Porsche challenge........

Save your pennies and buy a proper Porsche, a 911
