You make your own up and give it to the DVLA.
At least thats how it should work, but I suggest you do a search on here as all such things are subject to regional variations (read incredible incompetance by government bodies)

just make one up that is 17 digits long, I used the kids b/days etc with my age at the end.
No problems with DVLA, registered OK,

I just made up my own, I was told it had to 17 digits long, i put the model of the car followed by my families birthdays this way it would be very unlikely it had been used before
