Aaargh! DVLA
I've finally got the car registered but despite all of my best endeavours I could not get an age-related plate because I do not have the V5 of
the donor. All of the major bits came from my own vehicle, but I made the mistake of selling the shell, so no V5. I do have photo evidence of the
strip, copy of the change of ownership document, serial numbers, etc, etc, but no luck.
I really did not want a Q because the intention was to make it look like an early 7.
Nowhere have I read that you must keep the old V5, so again this may be different offices having different interpretations.
Yet another pitfall for the unwary

shame, but that is the way it goes sometimes.,
worth reading the write up on totalkitcar
quote: The following checklist may also be useful.
SVA certificate
Insurance Certificate
Money for road tax (depends on engine size and duration of tax) & first registration fee (£38).
Completed V55/5 form (both sides)
Built-Up Vehicle Inspection Form (sometimes completed by a VRO inspector)
Donor Vehicle’s V5 (or a copy if the vehicle has been scrapped).
All receipts.

Hey, look on the positive side. People will know that you built it (I see this only as a good thing) and it'll only have to pass visable smoke
at MOTs

Could you get another V5 from another (oh how naughty! ) car and use that?
Cheers,
James
