R1R Tyre opinions

Hi Guys,
Whats everyones thoughts on the toyo R1R's?
Mark from SKCC has recommended them for me, The seven has some rubbish halfords tyres on it at the mo, trackday booked in 10days. Would prefer A048's or R888's if anyone has any second hand but R1R's are a fair bit cheaper to get new.
Anyone else use them? About £70 a tyre.
Thanks in Advance
Ed

I rate them highly as a road tyre.
You'll notice a huge difference compared to a set of halfrauds ditch finders.

They grip very well from cold and hold on well when sliding, and for 99% of road driving there is more than enough grip.

They don't seem to need as much warming up as an r888 but they suffered from a lot of wear on track days.
I think if you drove the socks off the car for one complete track day you could easily make them bald.
Admittedly my last track day was on an airfield which was abrasive.

If it was a wet trackday r1rs would be my choice.

IMHO of course.
