Any body else going? Sat 15th Nov

I've just spoken the Steve at Fury and I'm going to make the trip south and do some passenger laps for them. Last years event wasn't bad at Blyton and with that under their belt, this years should be a good event. Only fly in the ointment might be the date, so fingers crossed for decent weather... otherwise it'll be a long trip for not much more than cups of tea in a pit garage.

There's a bit more info available now as they had a press day at Brands last week. Fury seem to have done quite well out of it, with a car in the publicity shots and a mention in the blurb on the BrandsHatch web site....

Though there's nothing on TotalKitCar mag's website... and they're the organisers

Hi Adi,
well so far we've got about 30 names down for this from SKCC - so we're all praying for half reasonable weather.
The rough plan for us is to have a pre meet meet for brekkie and then amble across once fully refreshed with a healthy full english.

will wander along to find you at some point! think we met at Detling 3yrs ago when you refuelled with Lee C at our BBQ....

adithorp - 30/10/14 at 02:19 PM

Yes, I remember that. Pop in and say hello but I'll warn you now, I'm hopeless at putting names to faces.

I'm staying at the Thistle Hotel with a few mates on Friday, so I think some "fueling" will be done the night before.

bi22le - 30/10/14 at 02:58 PM

Hell yeah, I will be up for that.

are they doing track time?

I may come down and go on track.

Fair amount of info there: www.totalkitcar.com/2014/10/24/steve-says-friday-october-24-2014/

Barkalarr - 30/10/14 at 06:09 PM

I'll be there in the caterham - I've put it in today to seven and classics at brands to have the cam belt changed all ready for the spirited drive there next week.

Ben_Copeland - 30/10/14 at 09:03 PM

I'll be there :-)

Unfortunatly not. Track time as such for visitors, though there is mention of "FREE parade laps". The track is available for exibitors to give rides to visitors. Supposedly to potential customers though it varied last year (Blyton) from, anyone who asked with some, to very picky about who they took out with others. Mostly free, though some asked for a charity donation (and apparently a couple charged).

Theres more info now here...

and a piece in the TELEGRAPH ONLINE

metro6r4 - 2/11/14 at 07:19 PM

me and my dad are going to come down and have a look. think I will bring my lid with me and try and blag a passenger ride or two

Andybarbet - 2/11/14 at 10:51 PM

Me & my eldest boy are going, hopefully it will be dry.

looking forward to seeing some cars on the track.

adithorp - 3/11/14 at 04:04 PM

Don't be afraid to ask for a ride. I got the feeling a lot of people were a bit shy about it last year at Blyton. If you don't ask, then you probably won't get (the more people ask the more laps I get to do ).

No idea what the rules will be this time but (from memory) last year you had to sign on as a passenger, get a safety briefing (and wrist band to show you had) from the circuit then just blag whatever rides you could. There was no age restiction last year, so a few teenagers got rides who wouldn't have been able to at a track day. Rules might be different this time so don't hold me to that.

metro6r4 - 3/11/14 at 07:11 PM

take it all I'd need to bring for a passenger lap is my lid won't need my other gear arm restraints etc?
adi I will definatly check in with you as I am a big fan of the fury's, I very nearly bought a k series powered one but ended up with my global

Thats right though think we'll might have some spare helmets.

metro6r4 - 3/11/14 at 07:43 PM

thanks for the quick response adi, I will defiantly be stopping by. I'm bringing my own lid as I have an odd shaped head. Having shattered my skull I find it difficult to find a decent fitting lid that doesn't give me skull ache. Do you think a shoei helmet will be okay? I have used it plenty of times when I have been racing at pod and not had any trouble, same with sneterton when I had a couple of passenger laps in kevs arion but I have heard some circuits can be funny about using bike lids on car track days

Hi Andy, say Hi if you see me, I'll be with the SKCC

Andybarbet - 7/11/14 at 06:02 PM

Will do Chris, is there a stand/field that you are all on ?

I'm taking my eldest (14 & about 8 ft tall !) We are having a boys day out :-)

ChrisL - 7/11/14 at 09:22 PM

Sounds like we'll be near the main straight

rdodger - 10/11/14 at 05:53 PM

I will be there driving (slowly :-)) for JWE in the Thruxton. Hopefully the new demo will be ready and there too!

greenwood03 - 14/11/14 at 12:27 PM

looks like the worst of the weather is today, forecast for Sat doesn't look too bad, possibility of a cple of brief showers first thing and then later in the afternoon, so fingers crossed!

jeffw - 14/11/14 at 12:58 PM

I'll be there but in the Jag. The Phoenix's gearbox is still crook and RAW are not there anyway. Looking forward to seeing Andy Bates's new front engined car close up. I'll probable be hanging around the Fury Sportscars garage shouting abuse at Adi

bi22le - 14/11/14 at 02:30 PM

no RAW

I was hoping o have a nose around a SC Striker 4age to get some tips. Maybe someone will bring one along anyway.

Ill be in the boring car. Incognito with plain clothes. Ill try and say to as many people as I can recognise, by their cars!!!

Ahh, so it must have been you I saw near the Trafford centre before? That car looks the business!

Mark.

SteveRST - 14/11/14 at 03:24 PM

Will be there tomorrow in my 'black with zebra-stripes' Westfield. Somewhere in amongst the SKCC area. Say hi!

luke2152 - 14/11/14 at 04:00 PM

I'm going to pop in tomorrow - hopefully meet a few of you and get some inspiration for my last push to the IVA

[Edited on 14/11/14 by luke2152]

Andybarbet - 14/11/14 at 06:07 PM

Just looked on the website, got our tickets through yesterday, there's no mention of opening times anywhere.

Can anyone give me a clue ? I was planning on getting there for about 10.30am if the journey goes ok.

Barkalarr - 14/11/14 at 06:30 PM

I'm meeting up with the lads on the A127 at 7:45 at the half way house brentwood. We should be getting to brands at 9:00 (ish)
I'll be on the Essex stand - apparently we're on a hard stand just by the main gate.

See ya there

JC - 14/11/14 at 10:01 PM

The pop up on my totalkitcar subscription says gates open at 8am!!!

Andybarbet - 15/11/14 at 05:06 PM

I thought it was quite a good show, nice to bump into a few people, good to see 2 luego ' there too.

My son enjoyed seeing the cars on track & walking around the pit garages was interesting, shame there wasn't more parts sellers though.

About half a mile up the road when we left, there was what looked like a badly damaged blue/black westfield in the hedge on the verge, hope they were ok, some people had stopped to help & I couldn't pull over safely by the time I realised what was going on.

greenwood03 - 15/11/14 at 05:18 PM

well i'm not one for shows, prefer driving to wandering, but had a cracking outing - about 30 of us from SKCC had brekkie nearby and then pottered up to Brands. Met a few new faces and enjoyed what I saw, although yes there were few traders - that said, i'm not in the market for much/anything.

I also saw the car 'parked' as i went home but like yous aw there was someone in attendance - was tempted to turn around, but right;y/wrongly figured that it was under control......hope so anyway!

think we were lucky with the weather, just 1 downpour for 20 mins this afternoon .......

pity that a fair few more clubs/owners didn't buy into this show/meet....

INDY BIRD - 15/11/14 at 07:08 PM

Yep was there had a good time always better when there's some action,

Like you saw the car but people already stopped It looked like the m3 god legend backed into the trees god knows how it got there as its a straight road hope they was all ok though

Barkalarr - 15/11/14 at 07:09 PM

I too saw the BMW powered car "parked" on the way home - hope they're ok.

Was quite a good day today - it's nice to see some quality engineering on some of the cars. I've got to say the cobra's seem to love the damp conditions - they were very quick.

Didn't get to ride in anything - the time just flew but had a nice day with "Indy bird" and his brother.

I didn't know you were going or I would of said high. I spent most of my time on my tod. Spoke to a few people and was happy in my own world admiring some very trick cars and skilful driving in the damp.

Was a good show I thoight. Would of been better if I was allowed on track.

Not one striker though of any breed. Shame really.

metro6r4 - 15/11/14 at 09:21 PM

I thought it was a great day, I met a few people and got some passenger rides my favourites being the clio cup car and the sabre. It would have been better in the dry but given the time of year I think we were lucky. As said the track conditions weren't great but the drivers did a good job. Definatly going next year

adithorp - 16/11/14 at 08:43 AM

What a good day!

Had a great evening on Friday after unloading. Good turn out on Sat and good to put faces to a few names. Unfortunately the track conditions were not conducive to showing off the cars to their best; I've never known so little grip.

I anybody would like some gravel for their fish tank, let me know and I'll dig some out from my under-tray
