Sorry about this totally self indulgent post, but I think I've found a way to put my avatar up. I'm copying the method from another forum which uses the same format, so here goes.

Woohoo!
At long-bloody-last! OK, so here's how it's done....for other avatar challenged people like me.
1/ Attach your avatar to a test message just like I did above, and post it.
2/ View your post, and R click on your avatar, then click on Properties in the window.
3/ Copy the URL, go to Your Control Panel, click Edit Profile, and paste it into the Avatar window.
Works for me!

Dick, yeah I reckon so, though there could be a size restriction on avatars. Just to be on the safe side, I checked the size of other people's avatars, then set mine to a max dimension of 150 pixels.

As I understand it the only persons who could delete the link or message are ChrisW, the message sender or the hard drive(s) should they go into total failure.

To that end & just incase.........- ChrisW if you reload the whole group or delete anything, first could you please please pleaes (and on etc)load my avatar proper like.

Instead of making this thread any bigger (and I assume using lots of space on Chris's server), how about just uploading your avatars to your own photos section and then sending your avatar link to that?

If you show the photo then right click on it and cut/paste the link into your control panel avatar entry that should do the trick.

Then when you get bored with your current one you can delete it from the photo section and upload another. You don't even have to change the link if you keep the same image name i.e. myavatar.jpg

Just a thought.

Cant seem to upload an avatar as this link describes. Done it once ok. I've tried it direct, and now tried the photo album method - any ideas?
