Hi Guys

Waiting for my Haynes Roadster body to be delivered so thought I would panel the interior.

My question is should I use 0.9 mm or 1.2 mm aluminium, I would prefer 0.9mm but what to be sure it will be suitable.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Hi mate

Think most people use 1.2 that's what I'll be using when I get there ☺

What body work supplier you using?

Bear in mind if your propshaft lets go a thicker metal would be safer. Or fit a prop catcher.

Prop catchers would best of your worried about it letting go, 0.3mm of alloy isn't gonna make much differance to 2kgs of spinning steel.

I'd only be worried about it flexing and kinking with 0.9 when its kicked or lent on.

Ditto if the prop gets out of light sufficiently to hit the alloy panels, even 1.2mm would not be enough, it bashes the living daylights out of the chassis tubes... locostbuilders search will provide "interesting"/"enlightening" viewing...
