Polo Rad on Indy fitting issue
marco - 2/5/14 at 01:06 PM

I've got a polo rad to replace the original factory escort one and I'm thinking it may not be best suited?
The lower pipe is fouling the chassis rail and possibly the steering rack and I cannot seem to get it any higher because of the nose cone.

Wondering if the civic or clio rad option maybe better?

Any help/advice gratefully welcome.

The bottom of my rad was pushed out so that it could clear the chassis and the nose still fits

It is a bit tight but it does fit, I have more of an angle on mine.

Was close on the Striker, as I used a slightly wider VW rad (small golf IIRC) ,But I spaced it out to clear both rail and rack.
It will need an imedaite 90 degree pipe on the lower connection.

Mmm,

More angle will tilt the bottom hose more towards the chassis rail and I'm fairly sure I cannot go any further forward into the nose cone.

I will have another look tonight, trying to hold it in place whilst trying the nosecone is a real pain

I've got one on my Indy and don't recall any issues fitting it - I just made some brackets to sit it at the right angle to clear the chassis.

You do need five pairs of hands for this job, but I don't think your far off. Here a pic of mine.

I made a 90 degree bend and a bit of fettling ..
If you look at the bottom hose .. not a great pic ..

Hiya,

Here is a few pics of my polo rad brackets, the bottom hose clears the chassis with a few mm spare.

Hey up mate fitted the same rad to mine with no problems. There are some pictures in my archive under the name radiator that might help you.

Managed to fit one to my indy. As mentioned above it is tight with the nose and you do need an extra pair of hands.

I used a Peugeot 206 top radiator hose for my bottom hose. It's 'S' shaped and fits nicely around the chassis.
