Avon wiring loom advice
wombat - 26/10/12 at 12:27 PM

Just picked up parts which will hopefully see the engine fitted before Xmas .
Loom
Props haft
Gearbox mount
Engine mounts

Stupid question,,,,,,,, do you find it best to put the loom in protective conduit before fixing to chassis or after?
Oh and is it just in the tunnel I need to do this??

IVA:

All electrical cables/wires must be free from chaffing and secured at intervals of at least every 300mm unless contained in a secure hollow component.

Im going for flexible conduit everywhere:

Is cable tying allowed then? I was gonna be way overboard with my P Clips otherwise !

Looking good so far loggy.
I will post some pics next weekend (hopefully....)

Sorry, to be clear most of those cable ties are just their to hold them in place for now, they will be fully pclip in when the routes are finalised.
Allthough, there would be nothing wring with using good size cable ties providing they are secured well to the chassis (ie NOT with stick on loops like these):

Thx loggy,

Anyone got a wiring diagram ??

The only thing I can see is that the conduit (is it split?) is rather on the large side.

If its the tiger loom then the boys over at www.tigerownersclub.co.uk are very clued up, there's also a wiring diagram in the downloads section there

My advice is to start in the middle of the car and lay it out from there. You will have to cut some of the runs back as they are to long. But only do this on final fix of the electrical devices once the loom is attached to the chassis. Also you will need to add a brake fliud low wire and also side indicators. Lable each of the wire sets as well so you know what you are dealing with. I fitted the tapped loom inside the split flexible tubing which was pot rivetted with P clips to the chassis.

Ok I have identified all the wires and got them labelled and in place with conduit and P Clips.
So now to match the Tiger loom to my Sierra column....
Removed the wiper stalk and labelled each group of wires - Lights/Indicators/Dip-main/Ignition
I have searched and printed off various diagrams but not getting a match or I am just being a bit thick...
Walked away for a while then back to to it, now back inside making a brew.

So a little help please, but keep it in laymans terms please :-
