Spitfazer
trialnick - 24/5/17 at 07:18 AM

Hi all

About six months ago I asked some dumb questions on the forum and got some not so dumb answers. However no one talked me out of my proposed build, so here it is. Now on the road with some finishing and fettling to complete.

Classic car purists look away now !!

I'm on board with that

Nice.
Be interesting to compare to my spit (just got an ST170 into that)

I like modified classics! You ought to pop along to Triumphfest at Santa Pod, see how many people walk away in tears! Actually, modified classics are contentious, but always a talking point. Better to me than just being another garage queen sitting in a field...

Love it....different, and why not :-)

Looks fine to me, will it need a roll bar at some point?

Think you will find less purists in the Triumph scene, especially the small chassis models than in most other classic car clubs.

Looks great, I wish I could find a decent mkIV spitfire, so much nicer than the later one.

ianhurley20 - 25/5/17 at 07:36 AM

Nice car, well done!

Thanks for your kind comments. It's been fun overcoming several engineering challenges over the cold winter nights using the make it up as you go along principle. I carried out all the work myself including the spray job on the drive. It looks ok even if a couple of panels may offer Stevie Wonder a good read until flattened and polished😂 It's very quick but a little agricultural in drive train noise, in particular off throttle so another job to attack.
Thanks again Nick

Wow you have been busy..

That's a remarkable creation. Very impressed.

Now, time to take it to a few Triumph Sports Six Club meets!
