airframefixer - 31/1/08 at 08:00 PM

Hey guys

Im Considering an FZR1000/ Thunderace engine for my BEC middy. I intend on fitting an injected r1 engine, but an opportunity for a FZR1000 engine has presented itself. Could I bother anyone with an FZR in there possession for a few dimensions. Heres what would help out and some pics of my progress.

Hi,

I've got an FZR1000 Exup in the garage, so I'll try to get those measurements for you in the morning.

Good choice of engine I think, compared to an R1 it's got loads of torque, pulls strongly (still about 150bhp when derestricted) and cheap as chips if you blow it up!

I'm off work tomorrow, so I'll get the dimensions then - they may be a bit approximate as I have a bike around the engine - but I'll do my best.

And if you want a 6 speed box one out of a YZF750 drops straight in!

OK,

A- front of oil filter to gearbox selector pivot - a bit difficult to measure with the fairing on but 330 mm is the best I can do!

B- gearbox selector pivot to rear of engine - 50 mm.

C- Gearbox selector pivot to in line with top of clutch slave cylinder (as per diagram) - 115 mm.

D- gearbox selector pivot to bottom of engine - 25 mm.

Hope that helps,

James

James

Thanks, thats a big help, I should have lots of room to spare. It also appears that the output sprocket is much closer to the ground than the R1.

Any idea of the ratios of that box, brief search on google brought up nil.

Thanks again
