101st use for a dead scooby!
caber - 13/7/08 at 07:34 PM

My brother has killed his Subaru! The engine sieized and broke the crank! It is about 10 years old the body is scruffy and the interior is about as bad as it can get. I have offered him scrap price for it though he stil thinks he can get £500!

Anyway I have been thinking about a mid engined project using scooby mechanicals, If you shift the engine to mid position use the front transmission to drive the rear wheels and run a shaft from the rear transmission to a diff at the front am I on the money for an idea?

I am thinking of a space frame set up using a combination of scooby suspension parts and home made wishbones, the body will probably be 60s or 70s Le Mans style particularly if I can find some existing moulds or panels.

What am I missing with this idea?

Thanks

Caber

that you will need to find a new engine for it...

and maybe if you do find that engine..you could better mount it back in and the sell the complete car and with that money...

do what you think you need to do!!

Tks

You'll need away to turn the rear facing rwd part of the box to go forward.

We looked at it once to keep it in center and thinking of using chains to link box to drive shaft you'd have to have prop shaft set low or engine up high!!

Plus the hassle of getting a front diff of matching ratios unless you want to try running a rear diff backwards.

BUT we did reckon set engine in centre of car weld up the centre diff plug the hole for propshaft at back just keep it a 2wd middy would be good craic and well balanced car

I hope you don't think I am calling your bluff here, because it's a genuine question, but:

Where can you find these T&T'd Scooby's for £500 because I know a mate of mine that would probably be interested!

Caber , mate you cant run a suby mid engined and have 4wd, well you could but it would be an engineering nightmare, but what you can do is this

I hope there's no dyslexic copper searching this sight.....at first glance I thought the title was "101st use for a dead school boy"

Sorry mis worded that don't personally know of one. Ive seen a few old imps on ebay every now and then, saw one at donny!
I will keep eyes open, we had a customer of ours who had the old style one with suspected head gasket 1k he wanted all electric and leather (A/C as well i think) but afraid thats long gone.
I can keep my eyes open tho worX??

if you want middy and 4wd take a MT75 4x4 and do what Lamborghini does.

easy and just the need to flip some diffs.

drive ratio's can by modyfied fron-rear using quaffe parts.
