TVR Chassis with AC Cobra Body
FlansS14 - 26/12/15 at 10:08 AM

Morning all,

I had a vision while stuffing my face with Turkey yesterday.. If I bought a TVR chassis and cobra body how the bloom in hell could I register it!

If I used a Dax shell could I register as a Dax after IVA/SVA, ISOMOT (whatever it is these days)

Or could i register it as a new kit car (without a q plate)

Any advice welcome

Ps Happy Boxing Day

I think, if the chassis is not modified then it should remain as a TVR.

Yep, just a rebody, no iva needed, keeps the same reg, not sure who you need to tell about the rebody, but it keeps the TVR registration

If your keen on IVA and want a new reg why not build a new Dax?

Or are you wanting to bodge the 2 together for some vision/reason???

Thats why topgear used a tvr chassis for the hammerhead eagle ithrust.

The chassis and running gear I saw has no ID (from a damaged TVR)

The TVR chassis just looks allot stiffer and stronger than the DAX and I wanted to build a fast/track car.

In which case it would need iva and would end on a Q.

So yo can build any thing you like and IVA it... With a q plate.

But can you get an age related?

age related needs a specific "registered" donor vehicle

OK,

After a few weeks, many E-mails and lots of calls i have sourced a TVR chassis, running gear (Minus the engine) with a V5

If i use the complete chassis and do not alter it i can use the TVR reg. BUT who do i need to tell about "rebody"

And am i correct.

Thanks guys

You should inform DVLA of any engine change , numbers , capacity etc . Not sure who or what you need to do with a rebody but I suspect only your insurance company?

I would tell the dvla as they might want to reflect the change on the body style or notes section of the V5. And of course your insurance company!
