Looking at a vx220 that has popped up on Facebook.
As standard, the car originally had an airbag, but the owner has fitted an aftermarket steering wheel which has no airbag.
The car has a current MOT, but was wondering if the lack of airbag because of the aftermarket steering wheel would cause it to fail it’s next mot?
Airbag warning light also comes on but I’d image that’s easily fixed.
Test ; 1. As far as practicable, check that all airbags fitted as original equipment are present and not obviously defective.
Reason to fail; 1. An airbag obviously missing or defective.
That's copied from testers manual,so you are correct in thinking it will fail.
It would fail for the airbag missing where fitted as standard, and for the airbag lamp indicating a fault.
Unless the car is fully rally prepared/msa logbooked there is no (legal) way around this.

It may be worth contacting your insurers to check if they would cover the vehicle with such a mod, some may and some definately will not.
