IVA test centres still open ?
Deckman001 - 26/5/20 at 02:57 PM

Hi All,

Am getting close to the IVA application, does anyone know if the test centres are open ? I've heard a tale that the commercial test places that do both commercial and IVA tests, have had a 6 month extension so may not be open until October !!!

I think i'm understanding this, as a Priority number 6 'kit cars', I can still apply using the revised application PT1 ?

Or is it, first apply for the IVA test, and as long as it gets approved, then add a new application for a Priority application during the Covid 19 times?

It's a one person test what is the problem ?

Hi,

I was very near to applying for an IVA test for my locost kitcar, but i didn't get round to it before the lockdown. So having had a bit more time to finish things and also repair a noisy diff, I can now start to look at the applications again. So having been told there may be a problem, I am now aware that applications can still go through. So I was just after confirmation that I was reading the process correctly that was all

I'll hopefully be applying to the Chatham and the one near Heathrow as a second choice, but having never built a kit car before I am also quite nervous now, wanting to get it as close to passing first time as possible without knowing exactly what i have to do to get it that close.
I have followed the guide book, and found that since I built it over ten years ago, things have changed so a few things had to change on the car. But will be there or there abouts by the end of next week, so I can now start the application process I hope.

I think kit cars/ self build, come priority 6, so new ambulances, other specialist vehicles etc. will have priority, and push you to the back of the queue.

Yeah i fully understand that and fully appreciate it too, seeing as my car isn't really a priority so am just glad they might give it a chance.

So was just after confirmation of the complete process now, that's all.

Hi Steve,

That's the one Andy (Donut) directed me to, but it is sadly now closed. The closest are Chatham and Heathrow (ish).

Hey ho, I might give the 'remote test' option a go and see if my friendly MOT guy who is setting up my car will try and do it for them

A friend of mine applied for IVA a couple of weeks before lockdown and is still waiting so I guess it will be a while before he hears anything positive about a date

Hi Steve, that would be awesome !! If you come across it while having to stay safe at home, let me know, and I could pop down and say hello from a safe distance and pick it up. I often drive near Crawley as my colleague lives just outside Reigate.

From a article in complete kit car it's only ambulances etc being tested currently, then kit car manufacturers will get preference before individual applications are looked at.

Yeah I'd expect Ambulances to be put to the top of any lists and I'd also hope that everyone would prefer that like to happen before any plain kitcars get accepted. I know my place on the lists, but still have a few little bits and pieces to do before i raise my courage to start the IVA applications

Heathrow testing station is Yeading which is located just above the A40 in between Hayes and Southall, shame Mitcham closed as that would have been handy and yes Mitcham was where i tested my car as well as Andy.
