Shiny new VIN plates!
RazMan - 23/8/06 at 01:26 PM

Just got these from Custom Solutions and have to say they are very impressive. 5mm characters engraved onto stainless plate - just got to weld them onto the chassis somewhere. Is there a standard place to put them or would anywhere convenient do? Rescued attachment shiny vin plate.jpg

Welding them on won't be a problem - I will use normal mig wire and paint the weld the same colour as the chassis. Also rivetting would not be very secure as you could just drill out the rivets.

Is it acceptable to have an engraved plate welded to the chassis for the DVLA inspection?

It looks a very professional much better than my uneven punch attempt.

I don't see why not - it will be just as permanent as a punched chassis when its welded to a chassis rail.

Yeah...but I could easily engrave some extra letters into those spaces or change that "C" to an "0".

TBH I don't know what the SVA would say, just playing devil's advocate
