Hi folks,
After too many years off the road I'm trying to get my car going again.
Years ago I bought these front brake calipers but can't for the life of me work out what the bolt coming out of the side is for.
A.I. thinks it is to hold the calipers together but it does not go all the way through, it just sticks out one side. I suspect the head of the bolt has been sheared off but not certain. Could it be for mounting something to the calipers?

That’s normally where the brake hose goes in iirc. Not sure why it has a stud in it unless it is just to stop air getting into the cavity whilst being stored, it normally comes with a yellow screw in cap.

I think Wilwood use a 1/8npt fitting but it could be the more normal m10x1.0

Ugg has it - that's the feed port

It looks like someone had used a stud as a makeshift port plug - when calipers are stored it's usual to block the feed port to stop debris getting in and, if they've been used, to stop brake fluid leaking out and making a mess.

If there's enough thread, you can lock 2 nuts together on it to get it out.

Failing that, a set of mole-grips will get hold of it and turn it out.
