I'd guess that the car is intended to fit the Daytona Prototype class in US racing. For safety reasons (Daytona is an oval) they mandate a larger than usual roofline for a taller and wider greenhouse. Difuser size, splitter lengths and front overhang is also regulated.

Although they are not necessarily mutually exclusive, pretty doesn't always mean effective.
