Need to Make Passenger Seat Quick Release?!

Hi All,

I need some ideas/suggestions from you good people.

I have a lot of un-used space behind the passenger seat (including the battery!) which I can't practically use at the moment.
To access the space I need to add a 'door' to the bulk-head and make the passenger seat quickly and easily removeable whilst keeping it safe and MOT'able.
Any ideas on how to make the seat removeable with minimum fuss?

Could you not make it pivot/fold forward using the mechanism from an older 4 seated 3 door coupe/hatchback? I've seen it before, but can't for the life of me remember the male/model of vehicle.... :s

I had considered that but due to the available space I wouldn't gain much.
I would prefer to move it right out the way!

My old Mini had one as did my old Mark 1 Escort (oh how I wish I'd kept that car)

would a mechanism similar to the quick release on a bike wheel be an option they lock with a cam action

I also have a lot of otherwise unused space behind the seats so both of my seats hinge forwards using a simple frame which mounts under the seat and a rudimentary sprung draw bolt to hold it closed at the back. It is surprisingly strong and easy to use - also passed SVA without issue. Behind my seats I have got my battery, electric water pump controller, two 5" speakers (the other two are in the footwells ) and a full tool roll!

Aren't the rear seats in 2CVs removeable? I don't know what sort of mechanism they used.
