anyone use a covered kirkey seat
daniel mason - 20/1/12 at 06:17 PM

as above, does anyone use the foam covered kirkey seats in their kits? if so how are they for stability and comfort? cheers

I havent used one in my kit yet, but intend to do so. I have used one in my race car and can say it was the most comfortable seat I've ever used. It was very supportive and wasnt uncomfortable in the way I initially expected when I firsts looked at it. Was especially good when giving or receiving big hits.

Saw edimas's seat in his race car.

I've got them and think they are excellent seats. But I bought some 1" foam off ebay to put under my bum as on a longer drive, they were a bit uncomfortable.

what size seat did you get alex? im 5'10" and about 12 stone ish. and what cover do you have? and what layback.also what about mounts.
i quite like the 15" intermediate with black vinyl cover. but also liked black cloth

alexg1965 - 20/1/12 at 08:20 PM

I've got the economy ones with the nylon covers. I think they are 15" and the layback will be the most vertical, if that makes sense as I was trying to make up for my bm being too close to he pedals. I'm 6'1" and 13 stone ( quite skinny really) and they are a snug fit.
10 degree layback and 14.5" - just checked the kirkey website
And i just bolted them to the floor

Seeing that my own seat features in this thread, best and most comfortable/supportive seat I've had - but that's for racing.

Takes up very little room, slots for belts can be modified without fear of weakening it and overall reclining angle easily altered (in my case with appropriate block of wood under the front) again without compromising its structure. I would never use anything else, on the track at least.

Also the cheapest; cost me £60 second-hand somewhere on the internet.

However, it is now for sale, but only if you buy everything else - see the For Sale forum.

Ive got a pair of 17s for the Fiat (big sons), they are the 20deg Intermediate laybacks, the chest wings are going to get cut off mine and modded, then fabric covers made for them.

Acquired taste, Nat & Cal rate them, and having sat in them they are very supportive, and strong ! welcome to have a sit in them if your my neck of the woods...

Ive been looking at the Kirkey seats also, they are looking the best option to make me as much room as possible in my Aries.

I've used 1 of these in my race car but I wouldn't want 1 in anything that I was going to spent quite a bit of time in
