Global GT Light / GT 1 (R1 engine)
Rupturedduck - 29/11/13 at 01:13 PM

Global GT Light / GT1 (R1 powered) with trailer.

Originally built by Graham Hathaway Engineering for the Global GT Light single make series. Over the last few years I've made minor adaptations for Hillclimb and Sprint. Weight is under 400 kg and 150bhp giving a stunning power to weight ratio. I've had success with this car and I'm 17 stone of idiot. A talented (and lighter) driver could embarrass cars worth 3,4 or 5 times as much. Class wins at Brighton Speed Trials, Mamhead Hillclimb, and Clay Pigeon Sprint, plus various runner up pots too.

The Global is a very easy and quick car to set up and drive with that fun factor you only get with a go-kart. Engine is a Yamaha R1 unit (998cc) developing circa 150bhp in standard form, cooled using Evans Waterless Coolantant. New genuine Goodridge brake lines fitted last winter along with a new fuel line and pump too.

Suspension is Öhlins with full compression and rebound adjustment, fully adjustable front and rear anti roll bars. All original setup data, plus our settings are supplied with the car.

Complete with 10 wheels and tyres, 6 with soft hillclimb compound and 4 with wets.

Global GT Light is a supported vehicle with spares readily available in UK and Ireland. This car currently has a 4.5L fuel tank, but the original fuel cell and rear section (removed to accommodate full width diffuser) are available to the buyer. Bodywork is free of major damage, splits or serious cracks, but has some minor "charm", but perfectly useable.

Comes with a lightweight brand trailer so ready to hitch up and go.

Your Christmas present to yourself is just £6995.

Reckon it could pass an IVA with a bit of work?

Which model R1 engine does it have. I'm guessing from the 150bhp figures it's earlier the early carbed (4XV/5JJ) or injected (5PW)?

Good luck with the sale anyway

I have no idea about SVA as it's not something I've ever looked into, sorry.

You are correct its a carb 4XV

Would make a cheap entry for the 750MC bike sports series and at that weight could give a few of the gentlemen Radical racers a run for their money!

Good luck with the sale

Thanks Paul, I would have loved the budget to have had a go at that series.

I know Somerset is a long way to travel to view this car, so I can offer viewings via SkyPe or FaceTime
