Yet another garage clearout!
David Jenkins - 27/4/22 at 08:36 AM

Now that my Locost has gone, I'm trying to clear out all of the odds and ends that didn't get used in its build.

Note that the prices are shown as 'posted' or 'collected' - 'posted' probably means Royal Mail or Hermes (or whatever they're called these days), while 'collected' means that either you travel to my house on the Suffolk/Essex border, or we meet at some convenient location.

1. Ford EDIS4 ignition controller, probably from a Fiesta (91AB-12K072-AA), complete with plug and wire tails. Has been used in my Locost, so believed to be working. £18 posted, £15 collected. SOLD

2. Ford Escort coil pack (928F-12029-CA). Also has been used successfully in the past. £18 posted, £15 collected. SOLD

3. Sierra wiper/light column switch (90BG 11K665 CD). Bought brand-new, but has sat in a plastic bag on a shelf, never used. £18 posted, £15 collected. SOLD

And the next one is the biggie - can't remember if I've posted this before, but here goes:

4. Ford crossflow inlet manifold, Weber 32/36 DGV carb (bought new) and just about all the bits needed to make it work on a crossflow engine. These bits include the pipework, accelerator cable and mount, choke cable, PCV valve and casing, and a pair of filters for the carb (it only needs one, but the first one I bought was too tall for the Locost). The carb has probably done about 100 - 200 miles from new, as I decided that I liked the roar of the bike carbs! The carb was tuned on a rolling road, so has appropriate jets for a mildly tuned Crossflow - the engine it was fitted to was 1660cc, had a BCF2 cam, and gave approx. 100BHP.
It also comes with a throttle position sensor and linkage, but its use is optional - it can be used or left unfitted according to your needs without affecting the setup. £175 posted, £160 collected (collection preferred, as it will be a job to pack).

Ref. item 3. Sierra wiper/light column switch.

If your car doesn't have a screen and washer jets you can wire the washer push switch on the end of the stalk to operate the car's horn. I did this on my MK Indy. Easy to do and works a treat. Keeps the horn in reach when your strapped in and avoids having to fit another switch on the dash. You do need toremove the washer symbol though (or I did for SVA).

David, do you know if that carb was fitted as standard on a pinto (i would assume a different manifold would be needed)? If so, I'm interested, subject to working out what manifold I would need to get.

I can't really help you regarding the carb on a pinto - I simply don't know. The manifold certainly would be different.

I would prefer to sell the carb, manifold and bits as a complete package though, if at all possible.

Weber 32/36 carbs were fitted on 2.0 litre Pintos and the correct manifold is often available on Ebay and elsewhere. However, you would need to change the jetting to suit the engine. The jets and their sizing are also available online.

I fitted a Weber 32/36 DGV carbon to my 2.0 Pinto in my MK Indy. Once jetted correctly it worked perfectly.

It was a manual choke carb so I had to fit a manual choke cable between carb/dash.

It used the standard mechanical Pinto fuel pump, nothing special or difficult to install/setup.
