Anyone got a modified Escort sump and pickup they dont want?

Or, who actually modifies them?

If you have a standard sump and pick up it's not too difficult to modify yourself. Failing that then Burtons may be able to help or Vulcan engines.

Hi Colin I've got one you can have for free if you want. I'm not to far away either only at pontefract

When you say "modified" just what do you mean and why? I have a crossflow in mine running a standard sump.

The sump hangs below the bellhousing, so is very vulnerable to damage. A modified one will have some taken off the bottom.

So I take it that it is made shallower but do you have to make it wider to enable the same quantity of oil to be used? Does it still have to keep the standard baffles?

You are correct. There are different thoughts on the baffles. It depends exactly what shape the final sump is.

I have produced lot's of 'shallow' sumps for Locost race engines. Remove 40mm from the bottom so it is level with the bell housing and add the new capacity to the front. The pick up will require modifying.........
