A long shot but anyone have a midtec spyder for sale?

Good / bad / ugly .. Unstarted kit or a resto job.. What have you got?

Condition not important!

Thanks
Richard

What don't you have in that shed?

What's the story behind the sudden desire for a Midtec? I'm finishing off a part-build so always looking for fellow builders to chat to/ help /annoy.

dickie b - 25/4/16 at 08:21 PM

No sudden desire here ! I almost bought an unstarted midtec chassis kit years ago but built the Fury instead.

Have hankered after one ever since and now the Fury is sold I may start a new project - but have to find one first.

The inline/ transaxle arrangement is what interests me. The gawky looks hold an unexplained appeal too..

There is a certain goggle-eyed charm.

If you lay your hands on one, happy to pass on any details about parts etc. There's a few people building/fettling so a decent set of brains to pick about any problems or upgrades. Seems like the Zetec Turbo is the ultimate goal.

If you happen to be going to the Stoneleigh show this weekend let me know if you fancy a chat.

Thanks very much for the offer - sadly I won't be at Stoneleigh but when I find a car I will be in touch.

Talking of which - I found this for apparently for sale in holland.

Works out about £1200 odd plus cost of retrieving it .

Think it's been on sale for a while so if it's still there you may be able to get them to move on the price. Happy to send a lay of parts that the kit is supposed to come with if they're just selling the chassis and suspension parts. Of course you'll have to make a body. ..

There's also a complete Midtec for sale on "retro rides", I think. £6,000 which they won't get but it doesn't sound like you want a complete one anyway. It's not road registered so no doubt still got lots to do though for IVA.

(Apologies for the gibberish in the earlier version of this post. Blame autocorrect and doing it on a phone.)

Did you get a Midtec in the end? There's one listed on EBay at the moment if you didn't. Otherwise what did you get? How's the build/refurb going?

dickie b - 7/10/16 at 03:53 PM

Thanks for the post - will take a look at the one on eBay. Sod's law it's all the way up in Scotland.. but looks just the 'used in need of sympathy' condition I have been looking for - and ripe for an engine upgrade .

(Eric's car is probably the nicest out there and far too good to modify)

Cheers
Richard

I'm in Glasgow and Elgin is a LONG way North of here! Think this is the third time the car's been on EBay so might be worth making an offer rather than waiting for the auction to end. I was planning to get my part-built car shipped up from southern England and it wasn't crazy expensive - around £350 from memory (but the company had a crash (of the literal kind) and went bust), ended up having the previous owner trailer it up in exchange for a decrepit Dutton that I needed rid of.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
