Land of Leather in administration
mads - 6/3/09 at 12:36 PM

Had a leaflet through the door saying that Land of Leather are in administration (must have missed this on the news) and are closing down. Popped to my local one and there is a fair bit reduced to half price or more to clear. If anyone wants a sofa, coffee table, lamps, vases etc I'd recommend a visit. I didnt see anything I liked but maybe one of you will.

If you buy anything, take it with you, if you can't, don't.

This will be the first time that a land of leather "must end soon" sale actually ends!

Again, wonder what they'll resurrect as next, was world of leather, then land of leather, sure there were previous incarnations.....

We bought 2 leather reclining sofas from them in October. Within 3 days they broke. We were told we could pick another sofa as they had discontinued the one we had (due to quality issues!). Our new sofas were shipped from China and landed in the UK in early January. We were then told about the administration, and that our sofas would not be released until the administrators told them they could be. Eventually, this week, out of the blue they delivered us two brand new (more expensive) sofas...!

If you go to www.landofleather.co.uk, I think you will find it redirects you to DFS - which I took as a clue as to who has bought the company!

Goodness, another company with sound moral financial principals folds.

I get the administrators holding page (redirected to www.landofleather.net) - weird.

..they'll be joining me down the Jobcentre gettin' lots of disinterest and indifference from The System. They'll then spiral into depression and despair.
Lots of us about, and it's growing. I predict a R1ot

Glad they have gone as their the biggest shower of poo i've come across recently...

Bought a sofa, it had a scratch, so they sent out a 'skilled specialist' who made a pigs ear of the repair, then they sent out another who did an even worse job.

After a rather heated conversation and a strong letter we were offered a new suite which when it was delivered was damaged, they sent a replacement, which was also damaged, then third time lucky...... no this too was damaged.

So i've got a sofa with marks on the front (not major i can live with it, but thats besides the point) and my only hope (abit a slim one) is that i can screw some compensation out of the administrators or new owners......

Watchdog also got involved when customers got burns from sitting on some of their chineese imported chairs...

From what i've read about them and the quality of their products on the web recently i'd stear well clear, even the current bargins may still be a rip off as what good is a chair that you cant sit on as its broken or worse.......

quinnj3 - 6/3/09 at 06:10 PM

I've noticed recently that anywhere you go the sofas etc are made from poor quality materials that will not last be it £1000 or £2000. Especially the plumped up cushioned sofas. These will deflate in no time as they are usually made of very soft filling.
