Side panels with air ducts

Guys can you post me some pics of your side panels, i seen a yellow 7 on here with panels that allowed air out of the engine area, something like dax do on the rush. Would love to see a few more pics to help me make mine.

Steve they still show up as the dreaded white box with a red cross in. All the previous photos in this thread showed up fine.

Could you possibly put one photo in your archive and let me know the filname please. The feedback you posting got says that it's really worth looking at.

Are people wanting to have these side panels fitted for just appearances. Or to use as an aide for reducing actual under bonnet temperatures.

If it's just appearances no problems. However if it's to actually reduce the under bonnet temperature then there's a lot more work needed than just sticking side panels on. And they need to have an opening of at least 75mm to do anything. Spent a fair bit of time developing these panels to work on a seven 20 years ago whilst running genuine spec works Renault and Vauxhall engines in West fields where under bonnet temp where rather high.

i am very tempted to do this on mine as i am needing some sort of ducting on mine when the new engine is up and running....

Hi

If you are seriously looking at using the side panels mounted like this to actually reduce under bonnet temps. then every car needs to be looked at as an individual case. Due to the complications of airflow in around under over the front end it is simply not a case of one design will work on all setups. But basics are you'll want the engine enclosed within the chassis IE no sump hanging down below chassis. This then allows a proper flat floor panelled setup to be used. Then it will be a case of playing with radiator ducting and management of air both into the engine bay and exiting along with working out what exactly is needed to actually create a draw to pull the air out through the side panel's. It can be made to work very very well with some sorting Hence The reason why all our own race cars are capable of running without the use of radiator fans even for heavy race use.
