Has anyone ever fitted a front splitter to there locost or similar? Something like the pic




Do you think it would make any difference to the handling etc.

Thinking of fitting one to my MNR to give it a more agressive front end.

Any recommendations as to what would be the best material?

Do you mean F1 style or just the width of the nose?

Raw engineering put a carbon F1 style one on their striker model for a little bit in some races, they said it did nothing except cool the brakes slightly though. couldnt find their picture but did stumble upon this on google. Dont think it's quite SVA approved though somehow!

Capsule summary, unless you're racing don't bother for a 7.

A splitter similar to the one shown has multiple advantages. Basically, if done correctly it will create pressure on the top, adding to down force, if extended back under the centerline of the front axles, it will aid in smoothing out the air flow under the car, again an aerodynamic plus. But in my opinion and in most driving conditions, the main advantage is that it LOOKS COOL! JUST DO IT.

This extremely fast SBD westfield at a local sprint is an interesting looking setup. Couldn't tell you whether the aero-aids are effective but can say that they certainly didn't prevent him from getting FTD by quite a margin!

Neil, i have, on a Fraser seven , at first we tried just a bottom splitter type arangement like your sugesting and it didnt work, made absolutly no difference to cooling downforce speed handling etc, a complete waste of a lot of time and a little money, so i bit the bullet and spent six months getting this front right.



and yes it works, top speed increase by around 20ks, increased corner speed, and no more of that scary feeling at the top end where a stock clubby gets real light in the front
here are some back to back figures of with and with out splitter , same day same track same cnr, data off the AIM Pista pro, data logger from turn 9 at taupo raceway
with splitter , 4th gear, 81% throttle 172kph, 1.6g
with out splitter, conventional 7 nose
3rd gear 88% throttle,151 kph 1.2 g and just starting to push.[understeer]
thats with a rear wing as well dont forget. but it dose make a huge difference. the biggest noticable one is the car dosnt get light and scary as 7's do at top end.
and ive made it to mount on orig nose cone mounts with an added removeable front frame so can be put back to stock road car in around 1 hr
