got it all hooked up on ford limp home to check timing but seems to only run on two cylinders.
can anyone tell me what i could be doing wrong.

cheers

possible faulty coilpack/faulty Edis, or incorrect wiring between EDIS and Coilpack? plug leads on wrong way around?

sounds like its 180 deg out!! I managed to put the trigger wheel on 180deg from where it should be but as its wasted spark it would fire 2 cylinders.

Do you have sparks from all 4 plugs or just 2??

Two things to check:

Are you checking it with a clip-on timing light? If so, 1 lead from each pair (1-4, 2-3) will trigger a good flash, the other one won't. It looks like one lead is faulty, but if you take the plug out it'll spark just as well as the other.

Are you sure that you've got the leads in the right order? My coil has the cylinder numbers written next to the connector posts.

i havnt got a timing gun just wanted to get it running and im not sure ive got the leads on the right way bit baffle by the 1342 and 1234 on the coil pack.

Does sound like the leads are in the wrong order then - try disconnecting them and putting one on at a time to see if you can figure out which two are working then swap the others over

do i presume cylinder 1 is the closest to cambelt and 4 the other end.

Struggled with mine for while runing on 3, a new set of plugs sorted it. May not be your particular problem but makes me think the zetec is sensitive to the high voltage side.

Better to go for a not so sensitive BEC engine then Coozer????
