Alternator Wires - Where to ?
richyo - 15/8/06 at 12:42 PM

As the heading says. I'm using a x-flow with standard alternator. Where can I put the red wires to ? Do they have to go directly to the battery positivice or can I take them there via the starter or via the solenoid ?
It an inertia starter so solenoid is remote.

TIA

Depends on the make of your alternator but the main charging wire can go to the battery via the starter solenoid. You will probably have two more connections, IG & L which go to a switched live and your panel lamp.

main charge wire needs togo to battery

according to the premier wiring loom, it can go via the starter solonoid feed (ie not the bit that only goes live when the starter is turning but the other bit to the solonoid)

in other words straight to the battery to save on confusion

yeah ok - fair point, but i was trying to say, it doesn't have to be one physical wire, it could join another large wire going to the battery.

Thanks all
I'll just take straight to battery.
