Just seen an advert for my local drag racing weekend (Gatornationals) and was wondering if I should go?

I've never been to see drag racing before, anyone got any hints or tips (other than bring ear plugs).

Really good ear plugs, until you have heard 2000 angry nitromethane horsepower you have no idea of the noise. I also tend to stay about mid-track, ususally were the action is.

Well, I went to the racing earlier and WOW! you can feel all you internal organs being beaten as the cars thunder past, was not expecting feel the shear power of those animals, you can feel each piston firing as the sound wave hits your chest, especially when you are standing less than 30 feet from the track!

Also enjoyed being about to walk around the pits, watching them stip down the engines between runs.

To make the day even better I watched as the silly idiots tried to reverse their SUV's and 4x4 out of the wet grass/mud - wheel spunning everywhere and gettin stuck while I quietly reversed out my VW beetle and smiled as they waited for the recovery truck
