Afternoon all.
Having finally found a pair of Record 74 Autovices, I am now in the process of stripping and checking the first one. I intend to take it back to a
bare casting and re-paint it as well as the second one once I'm done they'll be going on a new work bench. However, I'd like if
possible to replace the stickers on the front of the vice head. But I can't seem to find them anywhere. There's plenty of places
that'll do spares, but no stickers.
The sticker on the one I have to hand looks like this:
Anybody know where I might have some luck in locating something suitable?
Your local sign writer should be able to re-create it.
Would it be worth it for two small bits though, especially given that they're likely to get bashed and need replacing in the future? I'm not fussed enough about them to spend much time, effort or money on it to be honest!
Apply the paint, then the sticker, than apply a coat of laquer, even if its just over the face the sticker is on.
Custom decal/transfer printers? Probably do you a set of 50 for £20.
get a painting stencil made then paint it on.. but will probably chip like the rest of the paint with use.....
see if you can find a better image and i'll load it into my software and see how it goes...
you can get decal paper, (water slide, like airfix transfers)
I think I would use laser rather than ink jet though.

though they even do some transfer paper for temporary tattoo's!
edit: and a letraset style too
edit#2: and this looks like a good hardwaring version.

Are they gold in colour? I could knock up a couple the same style on my versacamm using clear vinyl, but can't print gold as only set up for CMYK. Could do them in black. Could also cad cut them out of gold vinyl, but might be a bit small to do so looking at image.
Better image of ot here
That's the right image, but it either needs to be on a clear material, or have the same shade background as the vice. And I don't know what
that'll be yet.
For those that have offered help of a stencil, could you have a look and see if the image above is suitable? If not, I'll try to find a bigger
one.
