Rant!!
nero1701 - 24/5/14 at 08:22 PM

I'm looking for a 4x4 for going back and forward to work in,
Plus i do the nursery run daily, getting that bit older, i dont want to double myself over 4 times a day putting the boy in and out the car.

Went to view a 1997 Shogun v6 SWB this morning

had a look around it and it looked ok, popped the bonnet, bit of mayo in the filler cap and on dip stick, Dealer assures me its as the cars been sitting for a while.

Take it for a test drive and the dealer very keen on making it a short test drive..I on the other hand had other ideas. Onto the 3 mile long strip of dual carriage way i gets up to 60 mph, 2 mins later the temps climbing...#

i mention it to the guy ..

He replies.."ah dont worry, it sits just above the middle"

Temps still climbing....

No hard shoulder...

temps bouncing of the top of the guage..

no hard shoulder...

Car goes bang...Big Time!!!!!! Engine cuts out/seizes
Luckily the Hard Shoulder had started a couple of hundred yards back, I quickly get into it!
By now Im only 3/4 of a mile from the exit ..

The 'dealer'

You were driving..its up to you to get us recovered, your legally responsible to buy this car..
..

I call a taxi..walk the distance to the round about and get in taxi and leave him to it...

Brilliant! Dealer sounds like a right clown!

Also name and shame dealer.

Agreed, we could all try out/toast different cars and see if we can put him out of business

Top man !

Another example of why I don't like car dealers.

bi22le - 24/5/14 at 10:40 PM

He knew that car was not well and would of been happy selling it to you knowing it was going to go bang.

I hope that taught him a lesson.

Sounds like he definitely knew it was going to brake.

You've also saved some other poor soul who doesn't know as much from being stranded on the motor way, or worse had they been able to buy it.

A lucky escape, with a Shogun you cant drive past a filling station.
Cheers,
Bob

If you went into Curries and asked to listen to a HiFi and it blew up they wouldn't say it was your fault. No difference here.
