I used my Aeon GT2 through one winter - reasonably waterproof (ish) but the salt really took its toll on the ally work so I decided to SORN every winter since.

what about a 4 wheel drive kit? there is a kit based on the subaru running gear that'd probably go well!

Winter car, as in a warm road car, or a snow eating 4x4 type?
Used to often fancy the Dakar/Blitzword type:

Just buy a land rover defender, they are just like a kit car, easy to work on (you will be doing this alot ), parts are cheap, 4 wheel drive, fun to drive.

Im a little bias as i have one

And they seem to hold there value very well

Defenders are expensive.

Buy a cheap Discovery and turn it into a 'fender.

You southerners might want to put a light jacket on for use in the winter.
