What does that mean 😀

Play nicely....

rusty nuts - 6/8/18 at 08:57 PM

What does it say on the V5 ? A few larger pictures of the chassis may help but not too large like some have posted recently
.

ReMan - 6/8/18 at 09:48 PM

From your post on wsscc, its never been registered, so its anything you want it to be, but it will need an IVA to put it on the road.

Most probably built almond Locost lines, clearly running and been on the track, so it should not be too difficult to road register.

And welcome aboard

Norfolkluegojnr - 7/8/18 at 08:06 AM

does it have any paperwork or VIN plates on the car?

looks like locost front wishbones to me, but the exhaust running underneath is unusual for a locost or sevenesque car.

Maybe a Dutton as suggested, with the front suspension and bodywork updated? Have you got any pictures of the underside at the rear -that often helps.

Welcome!

the engine bay doesn't look very dutton like either though - it could be a locost / mcsorley or similar linky (or someones own version based on them)

I don't recognise the nosecone though ?

other than that all I can say for sure is its got a pinto in it - more pics of the chassis / axles would defiantly help

There are no VIN plates on the car unfortunately, and no paperwork whatsoever! It was a bit of a bargain/gamble.
After 2 track days at Snetterton, I couldn’t be happier with the car, handling wise. Just needs more power!!

I’ll get some pics of the underside.

Ah sorry.

Sent from iPhone. It was indeed 3 emojis smiling

My apologies I misread what I thought was going to be a “here is my 7esque car. It’s registered as a Dutton thread”

As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters! Pintos can be tuned for big power, but probably simpler and cheaper to go for a Zetec/Duratec replacement. Thats what I did, although the Pinto is a good (but heavy) engine in my opinion.

Snetterton is just around the corner from me. Are you in Norfolk?

MartynF - 8/8/18 at 09:09 AM

Here you go, rear suspension.

One of the main reasons for wanting to know what it is, is so when/if the time comes to sell, I can give an accurate description, plus I'm obviously curious.
No, not in Norfolk, but love Snett!

Mr Whippy - 8/8/18 at 11:14 AM

just looks like an original locost, well built by the looks of it, cracking car I'd get it IVA'd and keep it as is

you know you want to wash it underneath

MartynF - 8/8/18 at 01:17 PM

Anyone used these guys:

http://www.greatbritishsportscars.co.uk

Receptionist sounded helpful and knowledgeable today, and they will do a pre IVA report for £45 per hous plus VAT, and she thought it might take a couple of hours (hoping less!)

MikeRJ - 8/8/18 at 01:25 PM

I'm almost certain that is a "book" Locost (the original Ron Champion book rather than the later Haynes Roadster). The rear axle is a "Koln" from a Ford Cortina, not the best in terms of strength to weight ratio, but an awful lot cheaper than the "Atlas" axle.

The front uprights are Cortina, and the 1.6 Pinto was sold in the Cortina so all of these parts probably came from the same donor.

Knowing them they’ll charge you for pre iva check and then present you with a huge quote and suggest you buy a new kit from them instead.

Oh yeah, bit dear are they?
Any alternative specialists that people could recommend, in the East Midlands?

I don't think that a bad way to spend £90, they're very helpful and knowledgable in my experience - even if they do try and sell you a kit you don't have to buy it! Provided you don't have a huge expense getting it there I'd take it to GBS myself.

ReMan - 10/8/18 at 09:38 AM

I tend to agree. if you’re relatively new to these cars and IVA it would save an awful lot of learning
Have IT checked out then look at the problems objectively as to whether there are things you can do yourself or with some help from this group .

Where about's in the East Midlands are you, if you put your location in the signature then there maybe someone close who could give the car a look over who as been through IVA and save you a few quid for the things needed.

If your anywhere near Spalding, Lincolnshire then I'd have a look for you before going to GBS.

Thanks guys, really appreciate that.
I’m near Loughborough, but the car is in Essex, with my dad, as we bought it together for some good old track fun.
