Deadliest catch
splitrivet - 21/4/10 at 09:00 AM

Anyone else on here into it. What a start to the new season, filching crew members, a punch up, 2 crew members forced to swap boats, a new captain and boat and a boat sinking, rivetting stuff.
Jeez I need to get out more.
Cheers,
Bob

i still prefer iceroad truckers although I have to admit that deadlist catch seems to be more genuinely dangerous/dramatic

I tried to watch ice road morons but the hammy performances and fake rivalry made me cringe, same with the over dramatisation and stupid stunts when they filmed the logging programme. I'm not even tempted to watch them any more.

I watched the first few Catches but its canny boring now on the samey samey scale. Bit like Eastenders....

Never been into ice road truckers as I really don't see the point. Its icy, its a truck, don't do it!

Think the last 2 weeks were boring with the herring fishing but last nights was the start of the crab season and was back on form. Couldnt get into ice road truckers at all.
Cheers,
Bob

couldn't have said it better myself. I think i would find these programs much better if they were more straight forward, i want to know about the processes and dangers involved but i don't need them to try and dupe me into thinking they nearly die everyday. of course it is a dangerous job and it is good that they express that but all of the over dramatisation gets a bit much. They seem to repeat themselves a lot after every advert break too, you could watch the last 15 mins and know everything that went on!

I think i'm more of a documentary guy like wonders of the solar system, some drama but not 'he's fallen of the earth' drama.

Same as all the Yank "Real life" TV programs in my estimentation..
Shouty men getting angry with other shouty men over whatever seems to be the topic of the day, mostly made up by the TV production team to make a boring program about someone else's job seem more interesting...

It seemed to start with American Hotrod and their impossible timescales...

Can you tell I'm not impressed with Yank TV ?

The only 'reality show' I enjoy these days is The Ultimate Fighter... I'm guessing that a fair bit of the 'house' footage is staged, but the egos and fights are for real!

Gav - 21/4/10 at 11:30 AM

Yeah the UFC Ultimate Fighter is really good.
Loved the prelim fights to get into the house.
The french guy who claimed that the french are real tough and dont surrender, who then got his ass whopped and wouldnt come out for the second round, PMSL

scootz - 21/4/10 at 11:39 AM

Don't even think he got his ass-whooped... he just bottled it!

Probably NSFW!

TUF ratings are dropping though. Tito has pulled out of the end fight by all account.

My Sky box is full of UFC / TUF programs, both my kids are big into MMA / kick boxing.

If my boy does well in school over the next few months he's allowed a Dan Hardy haircut (google him) over the summer holidays

Snuggs - 21/4/10 at 03:49 PM

Watching 2 almost naked men grappling never really appealed to me.

Tiger Super Six - 21/4/10 at 04:09 PM

I like the UFC but then they went and put it on Setanter (or whatever it was) and now ESPN so you have to pay another £10 a month if you want to watch it!

Not the best move in my opinion and audiences must have dropped.

scootz - 21/4/10 at 04:52 PM

They're showing the latest Ultimate Fighter series on Channel Five... can watch it OD too.

American Hotrod kickstarted my build...

scootz - 21/4/10 at 06:03 PM

Enjoyed that too... preferred American Chopper though - especially the early ones where you were seeing the 'real' Teutul's!
