Just had a similar problem with a Hotpoint w/m. It turned out to be the door switch / solenoid.

yep door switch solenoid would be favourite.

Will it open with the power switched off ? The solenoid on ours is on a timer but when the power is off it will open so it could be the delay timer.

many times the washing circuity

need that the basin is empty of water.

When the process is interupted, the only way to make sure the basi is empty is to do a centrifugal round.

its what i did when i had some similiar problem.

The pump will pump the water out and then the centrifugal process will start.

at the end you should be able to open up the door.

you risk that opening it forced(fooling circuitery etc.) that the basin is full of water.

Tks

There is a drain function on most Aristons. Turn the dial to the little symbol with the bowl and arrow and turn it back on. You should hear it pump out, I did this last week when the missus decided her mobile needed a daz doorstep challenge.

looks like it might be the door solenoid, hence why the fuse blew when she turned it on, i found a local guy that does call out for £20, can not waste garge time fixing washing machines can i he he he

could just be the door stuck shut and because its stuck not registering as shut if that makes sense ...

take the top off reach down inside it and release the door catch open it and shut it again see if it works as a possible easy fix (happened to my aunties) but make sure you switch it off and not switch off the fridge instead otherwise you are likely to get a really bad electric shock going up your arm and then jumping out of it wherever it is in contace with the washingmachine casing leaving you with a couple of entry nd exit wounds surrounded by tasty burns

interesting side note ... why are burn dressings flammable
