will be looking to make a manifold like the griffin one for my zetec, is it just a tube like it looks like or is there more to it inside. As looking to use the standard injectors and throttle body.

The injectors mount in the manifold flange which I assume would be your first job.

If your designing your own manifold you can make it to your own spec according to your own particular application.

I am very supprised by the size of the plenum used on the griffin one as it is normally recommended that the volume of the plenum on normally aspirated engines is upto 5 times the size of the swept volume of the engine.

According to the griffin dimentions theres is approximatly 130% for the 1.8 and 120% for the 2.0 which seems very small.

Does anyone know or fancy gaving a guess why?

hi the injectors not a problem as when I got my engine it had all the inlet and injectors on it the injectors have there own manifold and then the inlet bolts to that so that part should be ok just have to decide if its goin to be as easy as I hope

According to an artical in PPC by Dave Walker, the volume of the plenium should be twice the volume of the engine, the tubes should be inside the plenium approx 30% of its diameter.

Did you know you can bolt a Rover T series inlet manifold to the Zetec head --- requires just a few mods or an off the shelf adaptor plate.

Dosen't have to be from a turbo any Rover 2 litre T16 (Rover 820, 220, 420) will do but Turbo has bigger injectors which are good for .220bhp.

have you felt the weight of the Griffin manifold It feels athough its made of a cast drainpipe, unless newer ones are lighter why not go throttle bodies using bike carbs as the bodies

would plan to make my own i think out of alluminium maybe.

has anybody used bike carbs as throttle bodies ? are they relatively cheap and easy to do

Apparently the T series manifold is just about perfect - better than anything Ford produced!

Worried about injector rates, i did actually get the Rover manifold welded to an early Escort sandwich plate, so i now have an 8 injector setup if needed (which MS will cope with)..!
