I had my car MOT'd on Friday, its first test since i built it. Since the SVA test in 2005 i have changed the engine from a Toyota 4AGE to a 2.0 Zetec (blacktop).

I knew before the MOT that the car was running very rich and have posted questions to that nature on here over the past few weeks. After the MOT i was told that the car's emissions were seriously high, to the point that the tester could not get a reading! My cars limit is 3.5% i think.

The engine is fuelled using a Griffin inlet manifold, Omex 600 ECU and the original Ford fuel rail, regulator and injectors.

Has anyone had a similar problem using a similar setup? I would be keen to know how to sort it out.

The car runs quite poorly and splutters and misfires quite a bit. Will running it like this cause me any long term damage to the engine?

On the advice of Griifin, i have turned down the microbit/second (?) reading a few points, which seemed to help a bit.

Who did the mapping on the Omex for the Zetec? Sounds like it's simply running too rich.

Prolonged running with an excessively rich mixture will cause premature engine wear since the excess fuel washes oil off the bores.
