Hi guys ,
finally road legal got a D reg; running around country road in and around north oxford. first probs i noticed was saturday with non-returning clutch and brake pedals, had to loosen the nuts a bit to free-up the pedals plus some cooper grease. Now i've got a whinning noise from the back, i thought it was the gearbox at first but i think it maybe ball bearings, but i'm not sure any ideas where i should be looking?

I had the same prob with all 3 pedals on my way to SVA,fine now i've loosened them up like you have.
Mine seemed to get worst as the temp went up on the car,maybe a different bush would help brass or the likes.

As for the diff and drive shafts mine makes all kind of noises,but then again there is a lot of sound proofing in the sierra and none in the indy.
Also as quoted in the above link we are a couple of feet nearer the diff now,in fact we are near the diff than the engine.

Yep Bob, it was a hot day and like John say the normal car has sound proofing around the backend, but this sound seems to be coming from the left handside only.
I'll try packing the bearing with some cv grease stuff and see if it will make any difference.

Then again my hearing could be lobsided..

steve,mine sounded like the left side,i asked a passenger to listen and they said it was my side,probly the way noise travels,2000 miles and nothing has dropped off yet(fingers crossed)

Is it the same with a passenger in,mine makes a few noises but seems better under weight.In fact the car does drive a lot better with a passenger in,it also doesnt lock up near side rear when i'm dropping down gears.

Maybe i'll use mrs bob as ballast

Also i have just worked my way around the car and tightened up ALL the nuts n bolts,surprising how 400 miles is enough for a good shakedown.

Bob, i met a 7 techy who said his first job in a 7 racing team was to always re-torque all the nuts and bolts on the car after each time out; he advised to do the same - good advise then.

Are you towing a horse box? If you can hear over the wind noise you're not going fast enough .

Maybe i'll use mrs bob as ballast.
