it's quite straightforward to get 200bhp or more out of a pinto but it would be way cheaper to get a zetec and put that in. If you were going to spend a decent amount of money then a Duratec is the way forward.

thanks guys lots to look into

I've got loads of pinto tunning info, but a duratec will make more power for less cash

but I'm using a fairly big spec pinto in my build anyway

popstar - 8/6/12 at 04:53 PM

so duratec way to go if i can aford one
but if not pinto it is

snapper - 8/6/12 at 04:55 PM

130 bhp is simple
Injection head thin gasket FR32 cam
150 bhp a little more work on the head, valves, skim
More than that means more revs means better rods means pistons suspect
I have built a big spec pinto, cost £2000 all in all
My next build will be a Duratec

popstar - 8/6/12 at 05:03 PM

take it all for 2lt dur rather than the 1.3 from ka to make big and if so just found 2lt dura for not much on ebay but what would it take on top to spec up

andywilson - 8/6/12 at 05:14 PM

for me if you're wanting more than 150bhp from a pinto, cost wise youd be better putting a zetec in.

i have 155bhp with my pinto and without spending £££ its difficult to get much more

If you are stating from scratch forget the pinto and find a duatec i would think a tuned pinto would be dearer then a duratec and not much more power

I love my pinto and am happy with it but it would be a different story if i was starting again
