EDIS4 Conversion

Hi All,
I am planning on converting my fiat twin cam powered seven to EDIS4.............I am somewhat familiar with what's required but just need some clarity on a few things:

1. I am planning on running on EDIS4 only (No megasquirt etc).....does anyone know why this cant be?
2. I read somewhere that the EDIS4 module works out the ignition advance by registering the trigger wheel speed, therefore we have a basic advance curve?

thanks people.

I believe that EDIS will give a flat 10 deg advance unless connected to some sort of ECU

As said, EDIS only will give you fixed timing, you need something to advance/retard in response to engine speed / load.

There is a simple module on some fiestas and escorts, which will provide a 2 dimensional ingnition system, I can't remember which cars had them, Big_Wasa will be along soon, he's used this setup, might be worth a u2u to him.
